The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear is a BBC television documentary series by Adam Curtis.
Part 1. ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’
The first part of the series explains the origins of Islamism and neoconservatism. It shows Egyptian civil servant Sayyid Qutb, depicted as the founder of modern Islamist thinking, visiting the U.S. to learn about its education system, then becoming disgusted at what he judged as the corruption of morals and virtues in western society through individualism. When he returns to Egypt, he is disturbed by westernisation under Gamal Abdel Nasser and becomes convinced that in order to save his own society, it must be completely restructured along the lines of Islamic law while still using western technology. He then becomes convinced that his vision can only be accomplished through use of an elite “vanguard” to lead a revolution against the established order. Qutb becomes a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and, after being tortured in one of Nasser’s jails, comes to believe that western-influenced leaders can be justifiably killed to remove their corruption. Qutb is executed in 1966, but he influences Ayman al-Zawahiri, the future mentor of Osama bin Laden, to start his own secret Islamist group. Inspired by the 1979 Iranian revolution, Zawahiri and his allies assassinate Egyptian president Anwar Al-Sadat in 1981 in the hopes of starting their own revolution. However, the revolution does not materialise, and Zawahiri comes to believe that a majority of Muslims have been corrupted, not only by their western-inspired leaders, but Muslims themselves have been affected by jahilliyah and thus may be legitimate targets of violence if they refuse to join his cause. They continued to believe that a vanguard was necessary to rise up and overthrow the corrupt regime and replace it with a ‘pure’ Islamist state. Video Rating: / 5
History Documentary of Bank – Hidden Secrets of Money – Films
A financial institution is a monetary intermediary that develops credit history by offering money to a borrower, thereby creating a corresponding down payment on the financial institution’s annual report. Loaning activities can be done either straight or indirectly through capital markets. Due to their value in the monetary system and also impact on national economies, banks are very regulated in many countries. Most countries have institutionalised a system called fractional reserve banking under which banks hold fluid possessions equal to only a part of their present responsibilities. Along with various other policies planned to make certain liquidity, banks are generally subject to minimal resources requirements based on a global set of capital standards, called the Basel Accords.
Banking in its modern perception progressed in the 14th century in the rich cities of Renaissance Italy however in many ways was a continuation of concepts and principles of credit and loaning that had their origins in the ancient globe. In the record of financial, a variety of banking empires– especially, the Medicis, the Fuggers, the Welsers, the Berenbergs as well as the Rothschilds– have played a main part over many centuries. The earliest already existing retail bank is Monte dei Paschi di Siena, while the oldest alreadying existing merchant bank is Berenberg Bank.

http://www.learncurrencytradingonline.com In his March 2012 resignation letter, printed in The New York Times, the former head of Goldman Sachs US equity derivatives business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) attacked the company’s CEO and president for losing the company’s culture, which he described as “the secret sauce that made this place great and allowed us to earn our clients’ trust for 143 years”. Smith said that advising clients “to do what I believe is right for them” was becoming increasingly unpopular. Instead there was a “toxic and destructive” environment in which “the interests of the client continue to be sidelined”, senior management described clients as “muppets” and colleagues callously talked about “ripping their clients off”. In reply, Goldman Sachs said that “we will only be successful if our clients are successful”, claiming “this fundamental truth lies at the heart of how we conduct ourselves” and that “we don’t think [Smith’s comments] reflect the way we run our business.” Later that year, Smith published a book titled Why I left Goldman Sachs. This documentary goes into why he left and the techniques and the strategies the bank uses to make money for itself and not the clients. If you want know the real secrets of investment banks and the way they make money, this video documentary on Goldman Sachs will show you the culture of greed which exists in probably most investment banks. The frightening part is they have become untouchable and the famous quote ” Goldman Sachs Rules the World” is pretty apt Video Rating: / 5
